Hip-Hop Christmas: Day 7

Day 7 of the Hip-Hop Christmas is upon us. Today, I have probably found the most unlikely of Christmas songs. Even after the obscenity filled Yuletide greetings of Eazy-E, after the sexual overtones of Kanye West or even after the straight from Harlem stylistics of DipSet; I still have that one song that you'd never think, "Oh yeah, that's a Christmas song?"

Back in 1993, a newly signed rap duo group from Atlanta was billed to produce a track for their label's upcoming Christmas album. The song would be featured on the LaFace Christmas, but also their own debut album, Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik. This duo composed of Andre "Andre 3000" Benjamin and Antwan "Big-Boi" Patton would go onto dominate the rap game with plenty of known hits as the group known as Outkast.

The title of "Player's Ball" maybe in reference to the annual gathering of pimps all over the USA. Though with the Jingle Bells heard throughout the beat along with plenty of Christmas/New Year's references. Enjoy!
